Day 286 — Beautiful spring; Opera #50
14-May-1972 (Sonntag–Sun.)

TRANSCRIPT

Enjoying the parks and ducks

Beautiful day. When it’s sunny, with a light breeze and nice weather, the city is unbelievably beautiful. Too bad I had to practice.

Saw
Die Walküre again. It was a pretty good performance. It’s hard to enjoy Wagner [sometimes] because of its length—especially in standing room.

REFLECTIONS

Beautiful spring. As always, Vienna comes to life on beautiful spring days. Glad it’s a Sunday. The opening picture (and below) is a typical park scene on days with great weather (fall, spring, or summer). The Viennese love to be outside when the weather is great.

People in the park

Opera #50. Can you believe it? I’ve seen 50 (FIVE-ZERO) opera performances since arriving in Vienna. Let’s not count the over 50 concerts I’ve attended as well. This just highlights the intense immersion in music that this year in Vienna afforded me. Study, practice, lessons, concerts, operas—Vienna, the city of music.

If you want to see lists of my concerts, operas, and sightseeing adventures, head on over to the Lists pages and check out each category.

Ignore my complaining about the length of
Die Walküre.

John
