Day 314 — Horn quartet in church
11-Jun-1972 (Sonntag–Sun.)

TRANSCRIPT

Schonbrunn Palace 01

Nice day.

Played with Herr Gabler and quartet in his church—Schubert
Deutsch Messe (arranged for four horns). Very nice. Went well. A nice church (Kirche am Platz Heitzeg). A lot of little children, playing afterwards. A look at the “real” Austria and not just the tourist Austria. Nice surprise. Good. [They paid 160 schillings.]

Walked through Schönbrunn and went and practiced. Afternoon: did a good amount of work on writing of report.

REFLECTIONS

Schubert in church. I played a special horn-quartet arrangement of the Schubert Deutsch Messe in my horn professor’s church today. It looks like they even paid me. Once again, this is an example of how dedicated, wonderful teachers provide extra-special experiences to their students. Best of all, it provided me with a little look at the real Austria and not just the tourist side. Yes, kids are kids. They like to play, everywhere in the world. Thanks again, Prof. Gabler.

I am wondering if Prof. Gabler paid us out of his own pocket because he knew we were students running short of money? It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Relaxation. What a nice way to relax—walk through the Schönbrunn Palace. (See opening photo and below.) Then back to work on my Fantasy report.
